Burnout Comp Rules

 Driver / Licencing

1) Long sleeve shirt / long trousers / full shoes (non flammable) minimum. Drivers of Exhibition Burnout vehicles with non-original windscreen or firewall will be required to wear a Wool or Nomex one or two piece firesuit as a minimum, plus fire resistant gloves, shoes and socks.

2) All participants will be required to hold an ANDRA Divisional Licence as a minimum. Drivers of Exhibition Burnout vehicles will be required to hold an ANDRA Unlimited Licence as a minimum.

3) No consumption of alcohol will be permitted in the 12 hours prior to the event. ANDRA Breathalyser testing may be conducted, with any participant returning a measurable reading being excluded.

4) The driver must keep both hands on the steering wheel at all times the vehicle is in motion.

Vehicles

1) Unregistered vehicles built for burnout activities will be considered to be Exhibition Burnout vehicles. Body and chassis modifications must comply with relevant ANDRA requirements and vehicles using superchargers must undergo ANDRA Technical Inspection.

2) Only sedans, coupes or utilities will be permitted. Trucks and other special vehicles will require specific permission from ANDRA to participate.

3) Driven wheels must be enclosed by standard mudguard fitment as a minimum.

4) General safety check covering throttle and ignition operation / containment of hot fluids under-bonnet / integrity of engine driven fans / all pipes and hoses carrying flammable liquids.

5) Securely mounted safe drivers seat / open face helmet / lap sash belt as a minimum.

6) Secure doorlocks / fuel caps / batteries. Outer door handles must be visible and operative.

7) Bonnets / mudguards / doors must be in place.

8) Front windscreen required. Other windows may be removed.

9) Scattershields required on supercharged Exhibition Burnout vehicles using a clutch. Ballistic transmission protection meeting ANDRA requirements required on Exhibition Burnout vehicles using automatic transmissions.

10) No hubcaps / trims / wheel weights permitted. Appropriate wheel nuts / steel valve caps must be present and tight.

11) Treaded tyres must be used, with minimum of 1mm tread depth across full surface of tyre. Retreaded tyres not permitted, except in cases where they are specifically produced for Exhibition Burnout vehicles.

12) Methanol permitted in Exhibition Burnout vehicles. Otherwise petrol based fuels only permitted.

13) Where throttle linkages run through body panels they should be protected from fouling in the case of a collision.

14.3 Burnout Area

1) Specific areas with bitumen or concrete surface, clear of hard debris (stones, metal parts,glass etc.) must be provided for conduct of burnouts.

2) Where spectators/officials/media personnel are located within 20 metres of the boundary, fixed barriers must be in place. Barriers should consist of properly mounted double row Armco® or moveable concrete sections of appropriate mass and height.

3) Where barriers are not used, the boundaries of the burnout area must be clearly marked.

Conduct

1) Participants crossing the boundary or touching the barrier/s at any time will be disqualified immediately.

2) Passengers permitted. The passenger must be afforded the same accommodation and safety equipment as the driver. Passengers are to pay entry fees as advertised.

3) No fluid permitted on tyres.

4) Suitable fire fighting equipment and qualified personnel must be present.

5) Qualified first aid personnel must be present.

6) No alcohol permitted in paddock, staging or burnout areas.
