There is going to be a "Huge" Working Bee at the Dragway over the Weekend of the 14th and 15th August to do everything that is necessary for the commencement of another successful season of Drag Racing.
The gates will be open from 9am till 4pm on Saturday the 14th, and Sunday the 15th. This will allow for the most number of helpers to be able to allocate some time out of their busy schedules to assist. Further, the Club will be supplying a BBQ Lunch on both days. But, byo drinks.
This Working Bee will cover everything from maintenance and testing and repair of the Lighting System, being the total Lighting and Power stuff from the lights in the tower, on the poles, and the timing equipment and the Public Address Systems.
Mowing grass and weeds, cleaning everything that needs cleaning, mending fences, holes in the track, staging lanes and pits, and generally making it safer for both the competitors, and more importantly, the spectators.
If you can bring along a few tools that can fit in, without too much trouble, it would be appreciated.
A suggestion includes Hoes, Spades, Rakes, Hammers, Battery drills, (don't forget the chargers and the various tips), Mowers, and fuel for those if it is two-stroke.
The Club will be supplying the consumables like nails, screws, etc.
Contact Bruce Reynolds for further information if required.
Don't forget Gloves.
A Special General Meeting to elect the Office Bearers for the 2010/11 Year is to he held at the Dragway at the conclusion of the Test & Tune that is set down for the 22nd. August, 2010.
This Meeting will commence at 3pm, or as soon as practical at the conclusion of the Test & Tune event.
Nominations will be called to fill the vacancies and these will be added to the present nominations.
No other matters will be discussed.
If we cannot get the required number of Committee Positions filled, there is every possibility that the continued operation of the Drag Strip as we know it, might not happen for the next Season. We all have a great investment in our vehicles, and we really want to have a place to race these vehicles, but without a dedicated, operating, facility......................
We, as a Club, have shown that we are up to the task of running Australia's most southern Quarter Mile strip, and Members are needed to enable its' continuation.
Without a full Committee, and the support of the Members, serious decisions will have to be made sooner than later.
Positions required: President, Vice President, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer, and 4 Track Committee Positions.
